Ayutthaya Klong Sa Bua Floating Market & Water Theatre
Ayutthaya Floating Market, Ayutthaya, Thailand.
It is clear when you visit this new market that much thought has gone into the design of it. Along with a vast amount of money. Primarily I would say it has been built with the tourist industry in mind and catering for the foreign visitors to Thailand. But very cleverly it is also a great day out for the Thai people. I think very soon this particular Floating Market will be the market leader. Damnoen Saduak is considered to be the main tourist attraction but this market caters more for the Tourist rather than the local Thai population.
Ayutthaya has changed all this, there is something for everyone. In my opinion though it is not strictly a Floating Market, but rather a market that is built around water. Some of the boats are raised on stilts, which I suppose makes it much safer when you have hot Fat and boiling water in a small area of a boat. The Restaurants here are great, catering for all taste, and the main one was full when I visited, which was on a day that had seen a lot of showers.
The shops are well laid out and clean. The choice of goods on sale , while mainly tourist orientated, are plentiful. The river side walks and well laid out gardens added to the attraction of this Market. Along with river trips in the boats they have there. If I was to describe this market in three words, they would be CLEAN / ENTERTAINING / PICTURESQUE /
The cultural shows they hold here , though not quite up to the Rose Garden standard are an additional attraction giving you much to see and do on a day trip to this new Floating Market. Because you could actually spend the whole day unlike the Damnoen Saduak market and the Rose Garden. Plus you have the bonus of all the UNESCO sites to cover ( the old historical city ) very near this market in Ayutthaya.
